I consider this a good thing for Democrats.

An endorsement by Vice President Gore in the hard-fought Democratic presidential race could give a huge boost to Senator Obama or allow Senator Clinton to deliver the coup de grace to her rivals, but several campaign operatives and former aides to Mr. Gore now see the chances of such a nod fading.

Several former advisers said the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Mr. Gore in October for his work combating global climate change has catapulted him to national and international prominence in a way that could be tarnished by his taking sides in the primary fight.

“In many respects, he has transcended partisan politics,” a former aide, Christopher Lehane, said. “I think he’ll be extremely sensitive about doing anything that could potentially impact his global brand.”

Haha. Now that is funny!

First of all, Gore was a loser in 2000, then supported Howard Dean in 2004 right before Dean subsequently tanked. So his endorsement is no big thing.

Second of all, did a “former aide” just say that Gore is so “internationally prominent” that he can’t be bothered to be involved in US politics anymore? What an ass. But wow, I never thought I’d be so happy to have Al Gore feel like he is “too good” for the rest of us to bother being involved.

Third of all, the claim that Gore could “tarnish” his reputation by being partisan is probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Does his winning of the award somehow negate the past 40 years of blatant partisanship as a VP, Democratic Presidential candidate, Dean endorser, and regular crazy BDS spewer, so that now we can all look at him with respect and awe while he pushes his global warming scare mongering? But I’m glad that his advisers at least realize that being a blatant partisan ruins your reputation. That’s why most people dislike Al Gore.

Actually, most people DO like Al Gore - take a look at his recent approval ratings.

And yes, he is internationally prominent. How many Americans, non-officials at that, do you know that can call and set up a meeting with virtually any world leader? He is constantly regarded as THE voice on the environment whether it be by left leaders like John Howard or righties like Sarkozy. The only leader in this country that is clueless to his accomplishments is our own.

I guess that explains why Algore lost in 2000, then. People liked him so much, they couldn’t bring themselves to vote for him. Pfft.

Except that Bush got 10% of the vote and won the “Man of the Year” (for the 5th year in a row) while Gore got 6%.

If Gore were popular, he’d run for President and win. We all know that’s his grandest aspiration. Plus, that would be the best place for him to make “positive” change on the environment, right? Right But he’s not popular. He’s a loser. And a hypocrite.
