A law enforcement official said police are investigating letters sent to Capitol Hill offices showing pictures of the recruiting station. According to the official, who was briefed on the investigation, the letters included words to the effect of, “We did it.” The official did not know which offices received the letters.
The Associated Press obtained a copy of an e-mail from the office of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., to other lawmakers Thursday that reads:
“A few offices on the House side have received a letter today addressed to ‘Members of Congress’ with a picture of a man standing in front of the Times Square recruiting station that was bombed in New York today with the statement ‘We did it.’ He is standing in front of it with his arms spread out and he’s attached his political manifesto.”
The e-mail advised recipients to leave the letters alone and call police.
Who were the recipients of this letter? Glad you asked:
Initial information from Capitol Hill sources suggested the letters were sent only to eight House Democrats from the New York City area, but a senior House aide said many more members than that total could have received the missives. One source desribed the letter as a “20-page rambling rant,” and the AP reported the envelopes included a “holiday greeting card” with the message “Happy New Year, We Did It” on the cards.
I’m shocked — SHOCKED!, I tell you — that some anti-military, domestic terrorist would send something like this to Democrats in the House, bragging about what they’ve done. I mean, it’s not like they share the same goals or back the same agenda, right? (ahem)
Seriously, though, of course, the Democrat-controlled House issued a “well, this might not be all that we received!” statement, because it makes them look bad. They want us to believe that it’s possible that just as many Republicans got one, as well. I have a hunch that won’t be the case.
And it should make them look bad. The Democrats have done nothing but try and secure our defeat at the hands of al Qaeda almost from day one. They voted for the war, but as soon as it began they started to distance themselves from it, like the vote never happened and Bush was the only person who decided this issue. In addition to working towards that defeat, they’ve done nothing but kowtow to the anti-military, anti-war nutcases, begging for their support, their money, and their votes, promising to end the war by any means necessary and asking these lunatics to help. And then, when they finally get in power, the fail to deliver on their campaign promises. What the hell do you think is going to happen? We’re not talking about level-headed people here, we’re talking about the fringe left, who throw condiments on those they disagree with and break into houses to assault people who support the war.
It shouldn’t come as any surprise that the left is pulling out it’s “don’t blame US, it’s Bush’s fault!” card. They’re terrified that this is somehow connected to them and their rhetoric over the last seven years, so they’re trying to deflect it in any way they can. I would say, though, that in a way they are right to point the finger at Bush, albeit for the wrong reasons.
Think about it: here’s a man who they think is so stupid and such an oaf, and yet he’s defeated them on every single issue they’ve confronted him with, including two elections. It’s bound to set a few of them off, you know, so in a way they are correct. Bush made them do it simply because he’s smarter than they thought he was, and they can’t handle that, not one bit.
We on the right have documented just how many times this has sent the raving lunatic left to nutsville, but it’s not like we’re talking a long trip, here…they’re unbalanced to begin with, they don’t need any serious excuse to go off the deep end.
One more point I’d like to add, if I may. Democrats who oppose the war love to tell us that they won control of the Congress because of the war (which is a lie, but I’ve written about this too many times to go through it again). The next time they say they won control of Congress because of the war, all we have to do is say “Yeah, and fringe lunatics like this is who put you there.” My guess is that the “we won because of Iraq” meme will be quickly swept under the rug.
Exit question (since these seem to be all the rage these days): do you think that whoever gets busted for this will be charged with a hate crime in addition to whatever other charges they file?
Gotcha! That was a trick question, actually. Everyone knows it’s only a hate crime when the perp is a white Republican, and the victim is gay, female, or a minority, silly!
Update: An anonymous law enforcement officer has reported that the letters were an “unbelievable coincidence”:
The FBI and the NYPD are sifting through a mountain of clues, trying to determine who is responsible for Thursday’s Times Square bombing.
Those clues included letters to Congress that at first read seemed to be claiming responsibility, but turned out to be “an incredibly unbelievable coincidence” according to a law enforcement official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Authorities say there was in fact no connection between the letters to dozens of Congress members bearing the words, “We Did It,” and the bombing of the Army recruiting station in New York.
Law officers have questioned the letter writer in the Los Angeles area and don’t expect to bring any charges against him, three law enforcement officials told The Associated Press. The writer is an anti-war activist who sent as many as 100 letters—including a photograph of a man standing in front of the Times Square office—to Congress members.
So a guy in Los Angeles takes a picture of a person in front of the building in New York City that was bombed, sends them to Democrats in Congress boasting that “we did it”, they arrive a day after the explosion, and this is merely a coincidnce? Just like that, they’re dismissing this out of hand, without any serious investigation? M-kay. Call in the 9/11 Truthers, because THIS is a hot one.
Here’s my question, then, which should be obvious to just about anyone with a brain: If the “we did it” wasn’t the bombing, then what was it, exactly, that they did?

I said before, bet this guy is a Kucinich supporter, and no, he won’t be charged with a hate crime. In fact, he may not be charged with a crime at all, just put away in Bellevue until after the election.
