* Barbara Boxer’s speech. WTF was that? I mean, besides the obvious pandering and race-baiting?
* Urethra Franklin (I know, I spelled it that way on purpose) singing “My Country ‘Tis Of Thee”…man. Why not go with someone who doesn’t — how to put this gently? — SUCK? If they were adamant about a black singer doing it, fine…but there plenty of others out there that are far better than Urethra Franklin (Patti LaBelle, for example). And that hat!
* Biden up to bat…oath is adminsitered, now comes the seven-and-a-half hour speech, followed by a “shaddup!” to his wife.
* Wow, they didn’t let Biden speak? Probably a wise decision, given how Biden tends to have diarrhea of the mouth.
* Wow, Roberts f##cked up the oath. I dunno, maybe because they were behind schedule, maybe because it’s his first time, but crikey, you have one thing to do today, LEARN IT:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
* As I promised in the earlier post (with the video), I’ll refrain from picking apart his speech today, but tomorrow, after the parties are over and the left has wiped themselves off from their collective fapping-fest, I’ll have something to say on it.
Update: I’ve seen some comments on other blogs that Obama is the one who screwed up the oath, and I’ll just say right here and now that yeah, he did, but it wasn’t his fault at all. He’s probably rehearsed the oath, knew it backwards and forwards, and knew what to say. Then the Chief Justice (who obviously didn’t know it) gets up there and starts winging it, and that obviously screwed him up.
About the worst thing you could say, I suppose, is that Obama jumped the gun in the beginning and may have — MAY have — thrown Roberts off on giving the oath, but that’s about it.
C’mon guys…we’ll have plenty to say about Obama in the next four years, but this? Waste of time and far beneath us, especially when it wasn’t his fault.
