So the Democrats are trying to get rid of Limbaugh (what else is new?). They’ve got this master plan going where they will try and connect Congressional Republicans with the talk show host, and their justification is that they’re doing it because Rush is “unpopular”:
The seeds were planted in October after Democracy Corps, the Democratic polling company run by Carville and Greenberg, included Limbaugh’s name in a survey and found that many Americans just don’t like him.
“His positives for voters under 40 was 11 percent,” Carville recalled with a degree of amazement, alluding to a question about whether voters had a positive or negative view of the talk show host.
First of all, they want us to actually to believe that any poll conducted by Carville is going to be an honest one? Give me a break.
Second of all, Rush has been quite clear on what he meant by his “I hope he fails” remarks but, as usual, the Democrats and their allies in the press are taking it out of context. Rush isn’t saying he hopes that America fails, or that Obama fails at national security, or that he hopes our economy crashes. What he said, and continues to say, is that if Obama’s plan is to bring socialism and massive government intervention to this country, he hopes that THAT effort fails. And I would think, given the One’s sagging approval rating of late, Americans are starting to agree.
It’s not that conservatives want Obama to fail at being President, it’s that we want his socialist, commie agenda to fail. There’s a big difference. If Obama were talking about less government, less intrusion into our personal lives, lower taxes, less debt, and so on (conservative stuff), then we’d gladly support him. But he’s not about to do that, because he’s a liberal in all sense that one can be a liberal: higher taxes, punish the successful, massive welfare, spend like there’s no tomorrow, etc. Pure, unadulterated socialism, in other words. And that is where we hope he fails. If he and his cohorts succeed in turning this country into their vision of a socialist utopia, then this country is over and done with. There will be no going back.
Republicans can counter this easily: just make sure that when they’re asked, they specifically include what I’ve just said in their reply. Of course, the press and the Dems will edit that part out or somehow take what they do say out of context, so they have to phrase it in such a way that that becomes impossible for them to do. Also, the left doesn’t control information like they used to, so if, by chance, their comments are still edited to look like they’re saying something they’re not, then word will get out via the blogs and such.
Personally, I feel that conservatism is conservatism. If Republicans feel the way Rush does about conservatism, they should say so and not be afraid of what the press or the left will say about them. Most, if not all, of them got elected BECAUSE they said they were conservative. If they back down now and act like they’re not, they can kiss their political career good-bye. Not because Rush will target them, but because their base of voters will throw their asses out of office, as well they should.
What a lot of people don’t talk about when it comes to the ‘06 and ‘08 elections is that even though Republicans lost, conservatism, as a whole, gained. We’ve purged some, but not enough, of these so-called conservatives — these RINOs, if you will — from the Party. We have a better understanding of who is and who isn’t conservative. And it’s only just begun. Over the next two years conservative voters will be watching and listening to these guys, not Rush Limbaugh, to see how they respond to the Obamessiah and his agenda. If they don’t like what they see, they’ll vote them out of office or not vote for them at all. Yeah, that may mean a Democrat takeover for that particular seat, but that’s far better than electing a fake conservative who will do nothing but pander to the left and the media.
Update: I forgot to mention the other reason for this “Get Rush” episode. It’s not just about silencing Limbaugh, after all. What Democrats hope to do is distract people from the massive budget Obama has just submitted. Everyone’s talking about Rush and the Republicans, not very many people are talking about this budget he’s trying to cram through the Congress.
Obama and his cohorts hope that if they can make Republicans feel weak over this so-called connection between them and Rush, they’re going to roll over and play dead for the vote on this budget when it finally comes. Republicans need to keep their eye on the ball, here, and do all they can to kill this thing before it has a chance to go through.
