Browsing one of my favorite sites (whitehousemuseum.org), I came across this picture, via Time magazine:
Now, I know they’re sharing some kind of joke, but look at Biden’s forehead. What the hell is that? I don’t mean the hair plugs, I mean that spot on his head. Is/was that the joke? Was that what the two found so humorous? I’m baffled, I have to tell you. Here we have the most serious economic problem since the Great Depression (not my words or opinion, but theirs), banks failing left and right, a swine flu pandemic looming on the horizon (the Republicans’ fault, you know), and here these guys are, yucking it up in the White House. Strange times, my friends, strange times.
These are the same people who went crazy whenever Bush took a break from Washington. They’re the same people who cried over the fact that he flew over New Orleans to view the destruction, rather than get down on the ground (and get in the way) and see it up close. These are the same people who demand, time and time again, that our leaders drop whatever it is that they’re doing and address the crisis of the moment, whatever it may be and whether or not they can do anything about it. You live by those standards, you die by them.
Personally, I could care less if the President — whoever they are or what party they belong to — takes a break and leaves Washington for some time off. It’s a 24/7 job, 365 days a year. There’s literally no time off. Even when they’re on “vacation”, they’re not. And for four years, at least, it never ends. I also happen to think we don’t pay the president — again, no matter who they are or what party they belong to — enough, and I think we don’t take care of them as well as we should once they leave office (we did at one time, but that was changed several years ago).
All I’m saying, is that if Obama and the left held Bush and every other Republican president to such high standards, they’d damn well better be prepared to hold one of their own to it, as well. Remember, this is supposedly the “grown-ups” who are in charge here…start acting like it.

That picture was taken on Ash Wednesday, and Vice President Biden had attended Mass and received his ashes. This one isn’t a joke.
April 29th, 2009 at 1:01 amFair enough, but the question still remains: what’s so funny? Is Obama laughing at Biden’s religious beliefs (and his still having the ashes on his head)? Did Biden tell a funny joke (doubtful, as he’s not exactly known for his wit)?
And it still doesn’t change the fact that with all the problems they are supposedly facing and trying to solve, they can stand around so casually and just yuck it up. If this were Bush, the left would tear him a new one over it (remember the way they were “outraged” over the “Watch this drive” bit?).
