Rough day to be a hippie, I tells ya’:

It started out as a day with so much joy and hope but officials with the Clearwater Marine Aquarium say it ended in heartache.

Just three hours after releasing a bottlenose dolphin back into the wild, it was attacked by sharks and euthanized a short time later.

“We’re at a loss for words,” said Diane Young with the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

Dunham, as the dolphin was called, turned up last December near Anclote Key. Officials say he was sick and emaciated, but after months of rehab he was ready to be returned to the Gulf.

This is what happens when feel-good liberals get involved with nature, or any other cause, for that matter. They have the best intentions, to be sure, but they end up just spending a lot of money and nothing good comes of it. Imagine how much money they spent rescuing this dolphin, only to see him eaten mere seconds after returning to the ocean. Money down the drain, but hey, at least they feel good about themselves, right?

That’s the problem with knee-jerk liberals. They want to help the homeless, they want to help AIDs victims, they want to help the poor, etc., but all they end up doing is throwing a bunch of money down the toilet and, more often than not, making the problem worse.

As for what should have been done with this dolphin, my suggestion would be that since they spent that much money on the little guy, they should have put him in a place like Sea World or whatever. Make him work it off by doing flips, dives, and whatever cute stuff dolphins do that make hippies think they’re so damn brilliant (the dolphins, not the hippies). He’d have been fed regularly, cared for and, best of all, he wouldn’t have been lunch for a bigger fish.

BTW, I know that leftist animal rights groups and other run-of-the-mill liberals would take issue with keeping the dolphin in captivity, but isn’t it ironic that the things they object to for animals (that they are under someone else’s control, relying on strangers to care for, feed, and shelter them, etc.) are the very things they want for humans in our society? They object to animals being dependent on humans (by being held in captivity), yet they have no problem with making the poor, minorities, or whatever group, into wards of the state.

Remember when the left thought Bush did something like this and tore him a new one? Ah, good times, good times.

Update: Hot Air has another pic.

Update #2: ABC, true to form, tries to explain it away with a video which, I might add, doesn’t help Obama’s case. I don’t care if he did offer his hand to help the lady behind him, his eye’s were NOT on her, but on this girl’s butt. He doesn’t simply “glance”, mind you, he is clearly ogling it. However, they can’t help but say that the French President is the perv, here (which may be true, but don’t sit there and say Obama wasn’t doing the exact sane thing, because he WAS).

And, btw, “perv” is the right word. The girl in question is only 16. I guess Obama does have a few things in common with Michael Jackson after all (for you slow-witted libs, I mean they both like underage tail…allegedly!).

What I want to know is, where was the press with these handy little explanations when the left was taking after Dubya for supposedly ogling a volleyball player in a bikini? That’s right, all you heard was the deafening sound of crickets chirping. But remember, according to the left, there’s no bias in the mainstream media. None whatsoever. Pfft.

Update # 3: You know you’ve hit a nerve when Media Matters jumps on the bandwagon with ABC. I swear, these people…if they’d caught Obama with his toungue in this girl’s ear, they’d STILL try to find a way to excuse it.

Disney World is creating an animatronic version of the President:

Disney World is creating an animatronic version of the President:

Barack Obama was standing on a riser inside a warehouse here, delivering an inspirational speech about the blessings of freedom, when his left index finger began to twitch uncontrollably, unnerving his aides.

The nation’s 44th president was in obvious distress. At least it looked like him. But with silicone skin and a tangled nest of wires for veins, this Obama was a 21st-century reproduction.

More specifically, it was an audio-animatronic representation of the president, as imagined by the Walt Disney Company, and assembled with the direct involvement of the White House staff — and of Mr. Obama himself. The president supplied not just his measurements, but he also recorded that speech (which was initially drafted by a Disney writer) — and yet another recitation of the oath of office, this one in Disney high-definition sound.

In that Hollywood building here, the life-size, three-dimensional figure was being put through its final tune-up, its chin rising and hands gesturing in response to technicians, in preparation for shipment to the Hall of Presidents exhibit at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

How hard could this be? You just create the robot, program it to say “hope” and “change” a lot, and then have it reach into the pocket of any passing tourist and take their money. Simple.

I wonder…is there any way they could send it to Washington instead of Disney World? It might do a better job than the real Obama, you never know.

Exit question: are they going to rig up an animatronic teleprompter to go with this? Or would that be asking too much?

Poor translation aside, this is pretty funny. Funny, as in “lame”, that is:

Thousands of dolphins blocked the suspected Somali pirate ships when they were trying to attack Chinese merchant ships passing the Gulf of Aden, the China Radio International reported on Monday.

The Chinese merchant ships escorted by a China’s fleet sailed on the Gulf of Aden when they met some suspected pirate ships. Thousands of dolphins suddenly leaped out of water between pirates and merchants when the pirate ships headed for the China’s.

The suspected pirates ships stopped and then turned away. The pirates could only lament their littleness befor the vast number of dolphins. The spectacular scene continued for a while.

Substitute the word “dolphins” for “Obama”, and you understand how the national media here in the states is reporting the pirate/hostage incident.

Suits were made of polyester and they were for “leisure“. Ties were wide (and UGLY). We had platform shoes so high you’d get nosebleeds just from looking at them.
