I noticed this a couple of years ago here in Iowa, back when Democrat candidate for Governor Chet Culver was running for office. Liberals like to think that abortion is just another “health care decision“, rather than the taking of an innocent life (I suppose that helps them get to sleep at night).

Here, Tapper is asking a simple question that the left doesn’t want to answer. Or, rather, they don’t want the American people to know the answer:

On Sunday, Office of Management and Budget director Peter Orszag was asked if in the taxpayer dollars would not fund abortions in the government-funded, public health insurance plan President Obama is proposing.

“I think that that will wind up being part of the debate,” Orszag said on Fox News Sunday. “I am not prepared to say explicitly that right now. It’s obviously a controversial issue, and it’s one of the questions that is playing out in this debate….I’m not prepared to rule it out.”

In other words, of course it will be in whatever health care package the Dems pass. He just doesn’t want to admit it.

Porkapalooza!

I’ve got a friend who lives in this man’s district. Wonder what she’d think of this:

Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Pa., says he’d be willing to house prisoners from Guantanamo Bay in his congressional district if President Obama makes good on a plan to close the U.S. prison there.

As one of his first acts in office, the president circulated a draft Wednesday that would shut down Guantanamo Bay within a year.

Murtha only has a minimum security prison in his district. But he says he’d have no reservations about holding detainees there in a maximum security prison.

“Sure, I’d take ‘em,” said Murtha, an outspoken critic of the Iraq war. “They’re no more dangerous in my district than in Guantanamo.”

Murtha added that there was “no reason not to put ‘em in prisons in the United States and handle them the way they would handle any other prisoners.”

She’d probably not like the idea, seeing as how everyone in his district is a bunch of red-necks and racists (his words). Nevermind the fact that she’s a Democrat.

Murtha wants these people in his district because they’d have to build a prison for them. And that means he can “pork up” the spending bill, maybe even get it named after himself.

As for his not seeing why we shouldn’t put them in our prisons and treat them like common, ordinary criminals…well, I don’t know what to say to such idiocy. These are not people who robbed a bank, they’re people who cut off the heads of Americans the first chance they get.

Slippery slope defined.

Don’t think the gay crowd doesn’t have an agenda far beyond so-called “equal rights”, because it does. It’s only a matter of time before the pointy-headed libs running our educational system try and implement this in our country:

Children as young as five should be taught to understand the pleasures of gay sex, according to leaders of a taxpayer-funded education project.

Heads of the project have set themselves a goal of ‘creating primary classrooms where queer sexualities are affirmed and celebrated’.

The ambition was revealed in documents prepared for the No Outsiders project run by researchers from universities and backed with £600,000 of public money provided by the Economic and Social Research Council.

The stated purpose of the project – which is operating in 14 primary schools – is to stop bullying and prejudice aimed at homosexuals.

However, at a seminar at Exeter University tomorrow, supporters of the group will go beyond the anti-bullying agenda and discuss ‘pleasure and desire in educational contexts’.

In other words, they want to teach kids as young as five about gay sex. Nice, huh? Kids that young shouldn’t be taught anything about sex, straight or gay.

Now, if you think I’m overreacting, try this on for size, from our friends up north:

Canada’s decision to legalize gay marriage has paved the way for polygamy to be legal as well, a defense lawyer said Wednesday as the two leaders of rival polygamous communities made their first court appearance.

The case is the first to test Canada’s polygamy laws.

Winston Blackmore, 52, and James Oler, 44, are each accused of being married to more than one woman at a time. The charges carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison, British Columbia Attorney General Wally Oppal said.

But Blackmore’s lawyer, Blair Suffredine, said during a telephone interview that marriage standards in Canada have changed.

“If (homosexuals) can marry, what is the reason that public policy says one person can’t marry more than one person?” said Suffredine, a former provincial lawmaker. Canada’s Parliament extended full marriage rights to same-sex couples in 2005.

Liberals openly mock the right when we say that gay marriage is a slippery slope that will lead to other immoral behavior. And yet here we are, with lawyers in Canada making that very case. If gay marriage is legal, then why not polygamy? Why not allow pre-teens to marry? Why not allow a man to marry his dog, or a woman to marry her cat? I know, that’s stretching it, but someday, mark my words, you’ll see those very stories in the news.

Gay marriage isn’t a fight for equality, make no mistake. It’s an attempt by the left to tear down traditional institutions in this country and make it easier for them to exert control and influence over our daily lives. When you break down the religious and moral fiber of a country, it’s easier to subvert it, and that’s what liberalism has been doing since the 1960s.

Barbara Boxer's speech. WTF was that? I mean, besides the obvious pandering and race-baiting?
...

* Barbara Boxer’s speech. WTF was that? I mean, besides the obvious pandering and race-baiting?

* Urethra Franklin (I know, I spelled it that way on purpose) singing “My Country ‘Tis Of Thee”…man. Why not go with someone who doesn’t — how to put this gently? — SUCK? If they were adamant about a black singer doing it, fine…but there plenty of others out there that are far better than Urethra Franklin (Patti LaBelle, for example). And that hat!

* Biden up to bat…oath is adminsitered, now comes the seven-and-a-half hour speech, followed by a “shaddup!” to his wife.

* Wow, they didn’t let Biden speak? Probably a wise decision, given how Biden tends to have diarrhea of the mouth.

* Wow, Roberts f##cked up the oath. I dunno, maybe because they were behind schedule, maybe because it’s his first time, but crikey, you have one thing to do today, LEARN IT:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

* As I promised in the earlier post (with the video), I’ll refrain from picking apart his speech today, but tomorrow, after the parties are over and the left has wiped themselves off from their collective fapping-fest, I’ll have something to say on it.

Update: I’ve seen some comments on other blogs that Obama is the one who screwed up the oath, and I’ll just say right here and now that yeah, he did, but it wasn’t his fault at all. He’s probably rehearsed the oath, knew it backwards and forwards, and knew what to say. Then the Chief Justice (who obviously didn’t know it) gets up there and starts winging it, and that obviously screwed him up.

About the worst thing you could say, I suppose, is that Obama jumped the gun in the beginning and may have — MAY have — thrown Roberts off on giving the oath, but that’s about it.

C’mon guys…we’ll have plenty to say about Obama in the next four years, but this? Waste of time and far beneath us, especially when it wasn’t his fault.

Hooboy, here we go again:

Barack Obama has only four years to save the world. That is the star...

Hooboy, here we go again:

Barack Obama has only four years to save the world. That is the stark assessment of Nasa scientist and leading climate expert Jim Hansen who last week warned only urgent action by the new president could halt the devastating climate change that now threatens Earth. Crucially, that action will have to be taken within Obama’s first administration, he added.

Soaring carbon emissions are already causing ice-cap melting and threaten to trigger global flooding, widespread species loss and major disruptions of weather patterns in the near future. “We cannot afford to put off change any longer,” said Hansen. “We have to get on a new path within this new administration. We have only four years left for Obama to set an example to the rest of the world. America must take the lead.”

Hansen said current carbon levels in the atmosphere were already too high to prevent runaway greenhouse warming. Yet the levels are still rising despite all the efforts of politicians and scientists.

Ever notice these watermelons (green on the outside, but they’re red in the middle) always say we only have “x” amount of years to save the earth? And yet they’ve been wrong every single time.

Ted Danson was famous for making such statements back in the 1980s and 1990s, that we only had ten years before it was too late. It’s been way longer than ten years, and we’re still here, heads above water, doing just fine.

I wish these so-called scientists would figure out what the hell they want, because it’s pissing me off to no end. First, back in the 1970s, they told us an ice age was coming (our fault, of course) and that we were doomed. Then it was global warming (again, our fault). And recently, they’ve resurrected the ice age bit (apparently this NASA guy didn’t get the memo about that, otherwise he’d be repeating the “ice-age is coming!!!” meme).

Look, I’m going to be as blunt as I possibly can: global warming, approaching ice-ages, climate change — whatever they want to dress it up as and call it — is a giant scam perpetrated by the left on unsuspecting, gullible dopes (like our “friends”, the tea-smoking hippies). It’s purpose is to scare people into giving liberals in government more money, more power, and more control over our daily lives. Don’t buy into it, it’s total nonsense.

Oh, and by the way. Don’t be taken in by the left’s attempt to change the term from “global warming” to “climate change”. The ONLY reason they’ve started doing that is to cover their bases. If it gets too hot, they can shout “climate change!” If it gets too cold, or too wet, or too dry — whatever the weather condition — they’ll try and blame it on “climate change” and say that we, by our very existence, are causing it. Again, it’s total horses##t. The earth goes through normal weather cycles and does far more damage to itself than we could ever do, and yet it is constantly healing. Volcanoes, earthquakes, forest fires, floods, you name it, yet it always bounces back. And it’s been this way for billions of years!

I ask you, when was the last time we ever came close to unleashing the power of one volcanic eruption? Never, and we can’t. Nothing that mankind has ever done or could do, short of a global nuclear war, could impact the planetary environment on the scale they’re talking about.

He admits it, in a roundabout way, but doesn’t quite get what he just said:

“Social Security, we can solve,” he said, waving his left hand. “The big problem is Medicare, which is unsustainable. . . . We can’t solve Medicare in isolation from the broader problems of the health-care system.”

Do you see the irony? He says that Medicare is unsustainable, yet he is still pushing the notion that we can cover everyone with socialized medicine. He fails to connect the dots. Typical liberal.

Medicare is the biggest healthcare program in the United States, the model of which the left wants to use for its global (i.e., socialized) medicine program. And here’s the Messiah, admitting that you can’t make it work.

You want to know why healthcare costs are rising here in the United States? I’ll tell you. It’s not simply because of the lawsuits (that plays a role, to be sure), it’s because of the law of supply and demand (liberals think this is poppycock).

Think about it. Prices are determined on a product or service, no matter what it is, by how much it is in demand and how much supply of it there is. It’s always been this way and, to the frustration of liberals everywhere, it always will.

Say you have health insurance or are covered by Medicaid or Medicare. Now, say you get a bad cold or a case of the flu. What do you do? Yeah, you go to the doctor and he tells you that yes, you are sick (like you needed him to tell you that), and he prescribes you some over-the counter cough medicine and the like. Something you could have went and got on your own. But no, you went to him, thinking he’d give you some kind of wonder-drug that would knock your cold or flu out within hours. It doesn’t work that way (and, I’ll admit, I’ve done the same thing myself).

Now, what do you do if you don’t have health insurance or Medicare/Medicaid? Yeah, you go to the drugstore, buy the same cough syrup and tylenol (or whatever), go home, take it, and go to bed for about eighteen hours or so. In other words, you would end up with virtually the same treatment as you would have had you been insured. You just didn’t need a doctor to tell you to do it.

People think “Well, it’s free, I may as well use it.” Look, we’re all guilty of that mentality from time to time in regards to health coverage (myself included), as no one wants to be sick any longer than necessary, But it’s precisely that attitude/mentality that is causing the increased demand and thus the increase in costs. We’re literally swamping the system because we get the sniffles.

Can you imagine an entire nation doing that, day-in and day-out? When you have something that you perceive to be “free” or that you paid for (whether or not you actually did), you are going to use it. It’s that simple. And if you get everyone covered, you’re only going to increase the demand and will compound the very problem you’re trying to solve.

Which is what liberalism is all about. It’s not about solving problems at all. If it were, poverty would have been eliminated decades ago. No, it’s about power. It’s about spreading the misery and making people dependent on the government. It always has been. And if you, as a politician, control where and how people get their healthcare, their food, etc., you control the people themselves and you lock yourself into power. Nobody who depends on you to bring home that kind of bacon will ever, ever vote you out of office.

Socialized anything never has, and never can, work. It has failed everytime it has been tried. Yet the left continues to push for it, thinking that the problem isn’t the socialism itself, only that it hasn’t been properly ran. They are partially correct, in that government is incompetent to run things such as this. But the cure isn’t more government control, it’s less. Government should get out of the business of doing things it has no business doing, because when it gets involved, it almost always makes the problem (if indeed there was one to begin with) worse. To liberals, that’s blasphemy of the highest order. To most people, it’s common sense.

Exit question: notice how The One says Social Security is broken and needs to be fixed. Did Bush not say the exact same thing four years ago, and did the Democrats and the media not tear him a new one, even before they heard what his plan was? Yeah, they did. But when the Obamessiah says it, why, it’s gospel! It’s a problem now, a real, honest-to-Obama crisis. What are the odds that the “solution” will be higher taxes, rather than actual reform? Pretty good, I’d say.

The official Obama portrait has been released (sans the halo or other kinds of glowing effects), and what do you know, there’s an American flag pin on his lapel. I thought, Mr. President-Elect, that you didn’t need to show that kind of patriotism. What changed your mind?
